Supported Connection Method:
Bluetooth: The only supported method for connecting compatible Bluetooth scanners.
Steps to Connect your Bluetooth Scanner:
Put Scanner in Pairing Mode:
Silom Edition X-1900 (Gen 2):
Scan the barcode labeled “Bluetooth HID mode”.
Press and hold the scanner trigger for 10 seconds until the blue and green LEDs blink. This indicates it is in pairing mode.
Cipher lab 1500 :
Scan the “Bluetooth Pairing” barcode (barcode I)
Scan the “One scan to Bluetooth Device” barcode (barcode II)
Search for Scanner on iPad:
On your iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
Look for your scanner in the “Other Devices” list. The name may vary depending on the model (e.g., “BarCode ScannerHID”, “R&B40”).
Pair the Devices:
Tap on the scanner’s name to initiate pairing.
You may need to enter a pairing code if prompted. Refer to the scanner’s manual for the default pairing code.
You will hear a beep and the blue LED on your scanner should stay lit once paired successfully.
Enable Scanner in SilomPOS:
Open the SilomPOS app.
Go to Settings > Printer & Scanner (the exact path may vary).
Turn on the toggle for “Use Bluetooth Scanner”.
Configure Printer Details:
Printer Name: Enter a descriptive name for the printer (e.g., “Cashier Printer”, “Kitchen Printer”).
Print Mode: Choose “Receipt Printer” if you’ll be using the printer for receipts, or “Kitchen Printer” if it’s for kitchen orders.
Paper Size: Select the appropriate paper width (usually 58mm or 80mm for thermal printers).
Serial Number: (For Epson and Star certified models) Enter the printer’s serial number (found on a label at the back or bottom of the printer) to register it and access full features.
Troubleshooting:
Can’t find scanner on the Bluetooth list:
Make sure your scanner is in pairing mode correctly. See step 1 for model-specific instructions.
Move closer to your iPad. Bluetooth range is limited.
Turn off and on Bluetooth on both your scanner and iPad.
Scanner Pairs But Doesn’t Work:
Ensure the “Use Bluetooth Scanner” setting is enabled in SilomPOS.
Close and restart the SilomPOS app.
Make sure the scanner’s battery is charged sufficiently.
Check your scanner’s manual for any compatibility settings.
Scanner Sends the Wrong Data:
Check the scanner’s settings (usually configured with barcodes in its manual).
Make sure the output format matches SilomPOS’s requirements.
Scan the correct barcodes to enable/disable prefix or suffix settings.
Consider a factory reset of the scanner if other troubleshooting steps fail. Refer to the manual for how to reset.
Scanner Connected But Disconnects Frequently:
Interference from other Bluetooth devices or electronic equipment can disrupt the connection. Minimize potential sources of interference.
Move your iPad closer to the scanner.
Try unpairing and pairing the devices again.
Additional Notes:
If your scanner doesn’t appear as a certified model, it might still be compatible with SilomPOS if it supports the standard Bluetooth HID profile.
Some features, such as auto-scan and keyboard control, might require scanning specific configuration barcodes that are usually provided in the scanner’s manual.
You may be required to purchase a license to unlock full functionality with non-certified scanners.
